Baton Rouge, May 6, 2022 – The Office of the Public Defender announced it is the recipient of the 2022 Children’s Law Award by the Louisiana State Bar Association.

The award recognizes a Louisiana attorney or Louisiana-based organization that has provided outstanding services in the field of Children’s Law.  The award acknowledges those individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond to provide free legal services to the people of Louisiana.

“We are so honored to receive this award.  It is an acknowledgement of the hard work we, as a team, do to assure that everyone is heard and provided a means to justice, no matter their financial status. I am proud of this office. I am proud to lead such a talented group with a passion for serving this community.”

Lisa Parker – Chief Public Defender

Each year one award is presented to an attorney and one award to an organization. According to the Louisiana State Bar Association, “organization” is defined as any institution, program, law firm or legal nonprofit which has made significant contributions to the provision of legal services to the children of Louisiana.

“We remain focused on the mission to serve by providing competent and passionate legal counsel to the indigent community. Our best is still to come.”
